'The Big Bang Theory' Record Audience Backs Up The Laughs

If you ever needed proof that Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, and the rest of the gang from “The Big Bang Theory” are hot stuff you need only realize that the show has set a ratings record for itself. According to Fox News 8, the latest episode of the geek chic sitcom generated 19 million viewers, which is a pretty tough act to follow. The ironic part is that according to the report, the show has broken its own record three times this season.

I once wondered if getting picked up into syndication would be good or bad for “The Big Bang Theory,” and I had no idea that it would bring the show into a whole new gear. Now thanks to the constant airings, millions of folks get treated to the genius of Jim Parsons and the awesomeness of Kayley Cuoco. This is truly a great time to be a fan of a show that showcases some of the best characters on television.

Everyone from Parsons’ Sheldon to Johnny Galecki’s Leonard and including Wolowitz, Raj, Bernadette, Amy, and even Stuart from the Comic Book store are casted and acted perfectly. The popularity of the show is soaring in wake of syndication (okay its really been a long time), and the sky seems to be the limit for a ragtag group of scientists and their attractive female companions (except for Raj).

“The Big Bang Theory” record is indicative of the broad appeal of the show and the fact that everything else was in reruns that night, but let’s not take away from a major accomplishment. With any luck the show will be around for several more seasons, as the awkward situations for Sheldon and company just never seem to run out. Their luck sure seems to be hanging on.
