Five Events to Look Forward to in 2014

It’s always cool when a milestone is reached (with weather like this it’s literally cold).  Of course, the 2014 milestone just triggered the New Year, and looking forward to some great events is part of what celebrating by putting up a new calendar is all about.  So that being said here’s a look at five of my most anticipated events of the coming year:

The Olympics

The 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi are going to be glorious.  The Winter Games have a totally different feel than their warm weather counterparts, and with hockey, figure skating, skiing, and skating all being featured events, the cold edition is one of my favorites.  They will probably be televised to the point of exhaustion, but it won’t matter to me.  Plus, I can see some curling again!

The World Cup

Football is called soccer here in the United States, and the Americans are heading into the biggest sports tournament (or at least the most watched) of the year with high hopes.  The group the squad is in is tough to say the least, but I’m going to be rooting for the team to pull off a great feat and make it to the second round.  It might happen and it might not, you never know what might happen on the pitch.

“X-Men Days of Futures Past” was one of my favorite comic book storylines.  While I give away my age a little bit with that comment, First Class did a pretty good job of introducing a new crop of the mutants from the academy in New York.  As long as the story doesn’t get bogged down by special effects, as superhero movies tend to, this could be one of the better films of the year.

Deadpool’s Wedding

Of all the characters in comic book lore that could celebrate a wedding, Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, would not be on my list, which is why he is the perfect one to tie the knot.  While there is a lot of secrecy over the April event, this is going to be one of those comic books that instantly escalates in value.  Plus, the events leading up to Deadpool’s wedding should be pretty interesting, and I expect more of a “Game of Thrones” type of reception than anything else.  I just wonder who the bride is?

The Walking Dead’s Return

Luckily AMC will be bringing “The Walking Dead” back to finish Season 4 in early February, and with the Governor now dispatched and the band of survivors now scattered, it will be interesting to see what is in store for fans of the show.  I have to admit some of the groups that departed the prison at the Winter Finale are intriguing to say the least.

New LEGO Castle sets available at now!
